Julianne Simitz is a bicoastal stand up comedian, writer, producer, and activist.

Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania in a conservative, religious community where she never quite fit in, Julianne escaped her small town (and it's smaller mindset) and never looked back. She studied Political Science and Religious Studies at Dickinson College where she became an activist and leader on campus. Junior year, Julianne jump-started her political career through The Washington Center, a work-study program that develops talented young people seeking careers in public service. She spent the next decade working in national progressive politics before trading the stability of her 401k for the uncertainty of the 405.

In Hollywood, Julianne found her new passion: comedy. Most recently, she was a finalist for the 2020 Martin Grant for stand up comedy. In 2019, Julianne was recognized by Elizabeth Banks' WhoHaHa Comedy Call Out and was a finalist for NBC’s Late Night Writers Workshop.

In 2018, Julianne was hired as a staff writer on ABC’s Emmy-nominated
Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Prior to Kimmel, Julianne wrote for sketch-writing bootcamp, CBS Diversity Showcase.  She also served as the first President of Women in Comedy Los Angeles, a nonprofit that connects and empowers women working in all aspects of comedy.

Today, Julianne continues to produce and write for the sketch-driven late night show The Night Cap at The Virgil. She is also the co-creator and head writer of political comedy talk-show Bad News.

Founder of the nationwide women’s comedy writers collective,
The Clitorati, and an alumna of Pretty, Funny Women, Julianne performs in festivals, clubs, parking lots, and dive bars from sea to shining sea.

Julianne hates soda (A LOT) and the patriarchy (EVEN MORE). Follow her on Twitter and Instagram at @DCjulesdoesLA.
